Early Morning Thought's

I woke up early this morning with a headache, and started thinking about pacifiers of all things. You see we are weaning my granddaughter off hers, she has been doing really well for the most part, but at times throws a fit and demands her, "Binky." Now why, you might ask, was I thinking about that? Well, I was thinking how we use the things of this world to distract us, entertain us, and keep us quite! In a lot of ways you could say, we have been "Binkafied." But there comes a time when our "Father" says, "You've been sucking on that long enough, it is time to give it up! It won't be easy, but I'll help you."And with His ever so loving patient heart, He encourages us as we go through the day and at night holds us, and comforts us, and even when we sometimes throw a fit, because we want our binky, He shows us understanding, but is firm in His resolve to wean us. When you think about it, a binky has no nutritional value, and can even misalign your teeth. But the point is, those things that we use to pacify ourselves that are not necessarily "Forbidden" or classified as "Sin" do we really need them? Are they contributing to our spiritual growth? Do they nourish our soul? Or are they causing a misalignment in our relationship with God and others? All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: "helpful" all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. (1 Cor.6:12). Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God. (2 Cor. 3:5) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Cor. 5:17).
